Daniel T. Kamei, Ph.D.

2025 TMD Keynote Speaker

Dr. Daniel Kamei is a professor in bioengineering and the BMES advisor at UCLA. He completed his PhD and postdoctoral training at MIT. Dr. Kamei’s research is focused on developing point-of-care diagnostic systems for detection of diseases in resource-limited settings as well as in developed regions. He has worked on novel research to develop diagnostic systems for a variety of applications ranging from COVID-19 testing to detecting cerebrospinal fluid leaks to therapeutic drug monitoring to recently investigating the detection of cancer cells in cerebrospinal fluid. Dr. Kamei’s laboratory is emblematic of translational developments, and we are incredibly grateful to welcome Dr. Daniel Kamei as our keynote speaker at TMD 2025!
